GTA04 Overview
The GTA04 is an open hardware platform. Its design is roughly based on the BeagleBoard-xM.
Features
This is the feature list of the GTA04A4 (if integrated into an existing Neo1973/GTA01 or Freerunner/GTA02 case):
- 2.8 inch LCD with VGA (640x480) and touch screen (single touch with pressure detection)
- Processor: DM3730 (OMAP3), 800/1000 MHz, ARMv7 (Cortex A8), NEON, integrated DSP (TMS320C64x)
- OpenGL© ES 2.0 capable 2D/3D graphics accelerator
- 512 MB RAM
- 512 MB/1 GB NAND Flash
- microSDHC (up to 32 GB)
- Quad-Band GSM, EDGE, UMTS HSDPA 14.4 MBit/s, HSUPA 5.76 MBit/s (Specs)
- GPS 20 channel, int/ext. Antenna
- FM receiver and transmitter, both with RDS
- 802.11b/g, Bluetooth 2.0
- USB 2.0: full OTG (Client, Charger, Host)
- Camera 1.3 Mpx (optional accessory)
- Sensors: 3-axis Accelerometer, 3-axis Compass, 3-axis Gyroscope, Barometer/Thermometer Ambient Light
- Audio / Video: Ear, Microphone, (Stereo) Handsfree, 2.5mm 4pin AV Jack (Composite-Video- Out, Audio in/out, Remote Control)
- stereo speaker support (only for Neo1973/GTA01 case)
- Battery: replaceable 3.7 V LiIon, 1200 mAh
- Others: 2 Buttons, 4 LEDs
- internal RS232 (full level, RX/TX/RTS/CTS/RI) - for debugging, unbricking and optional console
- Torch/Flash controller
- RFID tag chip with 64 kBit EEPROM
- IrDA (FIR) transmitter and receiver
- fits into existing Openmoko Neo1973 or Freerunner case (reversible)
- documentation (see Manual incl. schematics) of all GPIO and signal connections to support driver development and extensions
- 2x 60 pin expansion connector (optional)
Revisions
GTA04A1/Openmoko Beagle Hybrid (2010)
A BeagleBoard-xM connected to a display-board, which fitted the case.
GTA04A2 (2010)
The first revision which integrated everything (SoC, Modem, Sensors, Peripherals, ...) on a single PCB.
GTA04A3 (2011)
- GTM501 replaced by GTM601W
- BMA180 accelerometer added
- RFID-EEPROM added
- expansion connector added
This revision was sent out to early adopters and software developers, to explore the new open hardware platform.
GTA04A4 (2012)
- second LIS302 accelerometer removed
- Sensors are no longer optional but always installed
- Si4721 no longer optional but always installed
GTA04A5
- BMP085 replaced by BMP180
- BMA180 replaced
- HMC5883 replaced
- ITG3200 replaced by BMG160
- GPS is always W2SG0084 (Sirf IV) and delivers pulse-per-second
- 6 wire I2C expansion connector for external keyboard option or other purposes
- prepared for Case Kit connectivity of earpiece and vibramotor
- headset plugin detection improved
- production related changes (i.e. components substituted because of EOL; no visible change in features)
This revision is currently (2014) awaiting a large enough pre-order/production batch size, to be produced:
