Descriptions
The WITZTRONICS WTLCD050R LCD cape provides a 5.0” primary display with resistive touch for the Beagle Bone Black. It allows for a direct user interface and information display to the BBB.
The WTLCD050R LCD cape was designed for the Beaglebone Black.
The WITZTRONICS WTLCD050/ LCD cape features a 5.0” diagonal, WVGA, 800 x 480 resolution display, resistive touch screen, 7 pushbuttons and a user programmed LED.
The Beaglebone Black attaches directly to the back of the WTLCD050R or can be used at the top of a BBB stackup of other cape products that utilize the other signals.
The WTLCD050R utilizes drivers included in the Angstrom and Debian distributions for the BBB. Therefore allowing for an easy out-of-the-box experience.
The WITZTRONICS WTLCD050R LCD cape features 7 push buttons next to the LCD display. Up, Down, Left, Right and Enter are arranged in an ergonomically useful joystick type pattern. Reset and Power are kept separate to help eliminate accidental use.
Four mounting holes are provided to secure the WTLCD050R LCD cape into the users system.

Getting Started
Required setup:
- A Witztronics WTLCD050R Cape
- A BeagleBone Black (with supported software in either on-board flash or SD card)
- A 5V DC power supply
Following the instructions below to start using your Witztronics WTLCD050R Cape:
- Mount the BeagleBone Black to the connectors on the bottom side of the WTLCD050R Cape (pay attention to direction).
- Make sure the on-board flash or SD card using with the BeagleBone has an image that supports WTLCD050R Cape.
- Plug in a 5V DC power supply to the DC connector on the BeagleBone.
- Following screens will be displayed on the LCD screen:
- Angstrom or Debian log-in prompt
- Auto Calibration utility (displays only on the first time)
- Follow the instructions given by the Auto Calibration utility to calibrate the LCD3 touchscreen.
- After calibrated, the Angstrom or Debian desktop will be displayed on the LCD screen.
You can start using the board.
