The BeagleBone Black essential is an original BeagleBone with three virtual capes:
- Memory Cape for on board eMMC (using MMC signals P8[25:20] and P8[6:3])
- HDMI Cape for on board video (using LCD signals P8[46:27])
- Audio Cape for audio through HDMI (using general signals P8[19:7])
When adding a Cape to the BeagleBone Black, if the same signals are used for the on board virtual capes, then only one of these devices can be supported at a time.
Each cape is listed with a column to indicate if the cape uses any of the same signals as the virtual cape for each:
- MMC signals P8[25:20] and P8[6:3]
- LCD signals P8[46:27]
- General signals P8[19:7]
