the Shanon aka TuxScreen was built as part of a R&D joint venture between Lucent and Philips. 4000 built - 2000 were used for R&D the project was cancelled due to dissolving of the lucent/ philips joint venture. the surplus units where then purchase by [[Tim Riker]] who then resold the units as an inexpensive embedded linux development platform.
